Afternoon at the Bay

Marina Bay is a great place to go to when you're in Singapore. I've been there a couple of times before, but this time I decided to go to the ArtScience Museum located right across the Sands hotel. Not only is the museum shaped very uniquely, but the view when you walk alongside the museum is fantastic!

The shops at Marina Bay

To go to the museum, you'll have to go through the shops first. I don't mind passing through the shops because it was hot as hell outside! And even though the shops are mostly high-end stores, it's nice to window shop and people watch while we were on our way to the museum. Funnily enough, when my dad and I were about to head out to go to the museum, there was an International school heading towards there as well. Not gonna lie, I was slightly jealous that their fieldtrip was going to a cool ass museum. Fieldtrips here in Jakarta is hell. I mean yes, some of the content in the museums here are quite interesting, but there's no AC! So there was a lot of sweating going on whenever I went on a fieldtrip. :(

The Singapore Flyer
Located right alongside the Singapore River, outside of the museum you'll be able to have a great view of the city. To the left, you'll be able to see Marina Bay Sands's boat peeking through and the Singapore Flyer on the right. Pretty fantastic eh? :)

So the ArtScience museum holds an exhibition that lasts for a couple of months or so, and in this particular trip, I went to the Da Vinci: Shaping the Future exhibition. Yes you need to pay a few Singaporean dollars but it was worth it! The museum was quite empty, but with a few people milling around, it was easier to read the information of Da Vinci and his creations. The timeline above is not all about Da Vinci, but it basically is all the historical events that happened during Da Vinci's time.
The exhibition was pleasant enough. I've never been to a museum in Singapore, so this was a first and it didn't disappoint. There was one section full of Da Vinci's paintings that I fell in love with, but sadly, no photography was allowed in that room. Another interesting part in this exhibition was the video explaining how Da Vinci created 'The Last Supper', his most famous painting. The original painting that's now located at the Santa Maria delle Grazie is already fading, and the video showed us of another artist replicating it. That video made me salute artists, because their talent is impeccable.

The view <3

The shape of the museum is quite interesting

After an hour or two exploring the exhibition, we finally stepped out of the museum. I was able to take a few snaps of Singapore that looked particularly beautiful (to me at least). The Marina Bay is a tourist spot, but not much people go to the ArtScience Museum, so this post is me mainly telling you guys how much I loved my time there! Also, the museum turns on its light once a month on a Thursday from 7-10 PM. Awesome time to have a walk by the river! Whether you're with your family or a lover, walking alongside the river is an amazing experience.

(Update: I will be uploading 3-4 posts a week. :))

Much love, Ashley xx
