Best of: September '16

How are we just two and a half months away from Christmas?! I feel as if it was just yesterday. Anywho, October has rolled around once again, and ya know what that means. Halloween season and all things Autumnal! I'm very happy about that, albeit I'm not that big of a fan of Halloween (sorry not sorry).

September has rolled around so fast and I've gotta say, this month has been a pleasant one for moi. I managed to pass my written and driving test on the first try! It's not that big of a deal, but when you're a nervous person like I am, passing something little like this gives me a big immense pleasure. I particularly love driving too, sometimes it can get a bit stressful, but it's just nice to drive around and shut off the world every now and again.

Without further ado, let's get on with my favorites, shall we?!

Places

Going to Venice: Despite the fact that I've been to LA a hundred times now, I've actually never been to Venice before. It was a pleasant trip and I'll be sure to be back again soon. I strolled around Abbot Kinney (see my post about that here), visited the beach and watched skateboarders skate, as you do. One of them looked exactly like Kit Harington (except this one's hotter, hmph), and it was so fun to watch them skate around, ya know?!

Hanging out with Le Peacocks: I don't think I've ever seen a peacock before, so to be able see some of them strolling around The Arboretum was very fun! Walking around a garden may sound like something my grandparents would do, but ey, I do love my walks. (read my post here)

Doggies at The Dog Café: With my little furball miles away, I missed the close contact of a furry little thing to coddle up with. So one a whirlwind, my sister asked me if I'd like to go to a Dog Cafe here in LA. Of course I said yes! There is a fee to go in, but everything goes to the dogs for the people there to take care of them. Whilst sipping on my lemonade, I met a bunch of lovely and slightly damaged dogs that needs a little bit more loving in their lives. It broke my heart to see one tiny dog who got scared everytime someone gets close to her as she was abused by her previous owner. I find people like that so revolting! How could you abuse a cute little thing?!

18th birthday in Malibu: Having your 18th in (bloody gorgeous) Malibu was special. It will stick with me throughout the future, and it will be a tale that I'll tell my future children about it. Despite the usual traffic in PCH, strolling by the highway with the view of the ocean was bliss. It was just so nice to be able to spend my first day of being an adult and um, a legal one at that too by the ocean. The warmth of the sun on my skin, the breeze of the ocean, gah, it was just perfection!

Miscellaneous Favs

Jane Austen Candle: As an avid fan of Miss Austen, when I first discovered this beautiful gem of a candle, I just knew deep in my soul that I need it by my bedside table. Not only does the quote on it resonate to me, but the scent is relaxing and oh so memorable. I managed to finish it in two weeks! Which is crazy. Currently in the process of buying another one off their website *cheeky smile*

This Modern Love by Will Darbyshire: I've loved reading poems ever since Lang Leav became a hit on Tumblr. Ever since then, I've been religiously buying her books annually when her new book's released. So when I found a YouTuber coming out with a book similar to hers, I just knew I had to have it. It's bloody gorgeous, from the poems that a bunch of people wrote from all other the world, to the photographs and little trinkets of decor here and there, I'm in love. Some of them tugged at my heart strings, to a point where I almost shed a tear or two. It's so great that Will was able to compile so many letters from people for their past/present lovers who are so good in writing. Kudos to him!

Persuasion by Jane Austen: Not gonna ramble on about this, as I've wrote a review on it!

Movies

Bridget Jones's Baby: Earlier on this year, I was raving about how much I loved Bridget Jones's Diary and how late I was to the hype. A decade too late. So when I found out they were coming out with a third installment, and one with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy yet again, I was a happy, happy gal. Not gonna lie, I was pretty apprehensive of it being a rubbish movie as I didn't like the second movie of the series, but oh my gosh! I was laughing my ass off from beginning to end. Also, I bloody love that Ed Sheeran cameo. Friggin' hilarious! Whilst Patrick Dempsey is a total eye-candy (don't lie to me about this!), Colin Firth will always, and I mean always have a special place in my heart.

TV Shows

Poldark: I've waited a year for their second series! I'm gonna be honest with you guys though. Because I've started watching Victoria since late-August or so, I've liked Victoria much better than I do Poldark. Bare in mind, I still love Ross and of course, Romelza, but something about the plot just doesn't get to me as it did with the first series.

Better Late Than Never: A 4 week-series that I came across by accident whilst I was jetlagged when I first arrived in LA. Basically four top notched actors/athletes who are now in their 60's or beyond; aka Terry Bradshaw, George Foreman, William Shatner and Henry Winkler oh and their sidekick/assistant Jeff Dye traveled across Asia for a whole month. It's friggin' hilarious as they come across some weird ass traditions in each country they visited! My favorite one has got to be when they first arrived in Japan and their South Korea trip.

Victoria: I've mentioned this as a favorite in my last favorites post, but hey, I've fallen harder for it now that I'm six episodes into the series. I honestly wish that in the future, I'll have a love similar to V&A's. There are rumors circling around that Jenna Coleman (Queen V) and Tom Hughes (Prince A) are dating in real life, and I wish it was true. Because their chemistry on-screen is just off the charts!

Songs

  1. Still Falling For You - Ellie Goulding
  2. Roses - Shawn Mendes
  3. This Town - Niall Horan
btw, still listening to the Pride and Prejudice Soundtrack.

Blogs

Hannah Gale: I started following Hannah on Bloglovin about two months ago. And I'm so pleased to have come across her blog because she is just so lovely and genuine! Some of her posts got me cracking up because she's that funny. Her YouTube channel is also one of my favorites these days! I love her chilled back vlogs.

From Roses: Rebecca is not only great in photo taking, but every single post of hers I read from top to bottom. I find that we relate to a lot of things; such as the fact that we're both homebodies. Oh and our dogs are named Bella! Doesn't hurt that she posts 6 days out of the week.

Sunday Chapter: Angela is one bloody lovely woman. Recently she did a lil' get to know me post on her blog, and you can tell how genuine and dedicated she is to her blog. She too, takes looovely photographs on her blog! Also, her thoughts on certain topics are same as mine, great to know that I'm not alone on that. Do I have to mention how bloody gorgeous she is?! Her hair is literally #hairgoals okay.

Food

Sweet Potato Fries at Cheesecake Factory: I've ate quite a few of these from different restaurants for the past month or so, gotta say this one's the best one so far here in LA!

Chicken & Waffle at Brick+Mortar: Famished after a walk down Venice beach, we headed out to this restaurant/bar that was fully packed, so ya know it's gonna be a great one. Their Chicken & Waffle was so good. I seriously wished I had one in front of me right now!

Rose Lemonade at The Dog Café: I'm not usually a big fan of lemonade, but when I saw that they had a rose one, I had to try it. Anything with rose is up my street! They did not disappoint, I managed to buy two cups by the end of our visit.

A little lengthy than August's favorites, and I hope you're okay with that! Bring on Autumn, shall we?! Also, is it weird that I'm counting down to Christmas already?!

What are your favorites last month?

Much love, Ashley xx
