Wandering Around Bangkok

I went on a mini-holiday to Bangkok with my family. I've been there a couple of times now and compared to when I was small, I did a whole lot of walking and shopping this time. So come along with me to Bangkok and enjoy, I guess....

Our first day was in one word, hectic. Started out very early (I had to wake up at 7:30!). We ate breakfast first and oh my gosh am I happy to be reunited with my favorite hashbrown and bacon! Whenever I'm in Bangkok, I always stay at the Novotel Siam Square, because a) the breakfast is good b) their room service is the bomb.com and c) it's close to the shopping centre!

Our first stop of the day was Platinum Fashion Mall. A lot of tourists go there because there are hundreds and hundreds of shops there that are quite cheap, but I personally didn't like it because I only got one dress! Just a tip: always bargain with the shopowners! Sometimes they won't budge, but just try!

Do you spot the Marble bag?
Our second stop was Central Chidlom. I've been here a couple of times now, and I remembered going to the kids section and spending hours and hours there when I was little. I only came out with one thing, but a purchase that I was so happy about (you'll hopefully see it in a haul sometime soon!). Other than that, we just window shopped before heading to lunch. The department store also has Miss Selfridge and Topshop, fyi. The one thing I realized when I was there was how amazing all the store displays were? I mean seriously, they were all so photogenic that I couldn't help but snap a few!

For lunch, we headed out to one of my favorite restaurants in Bangkok, The Little Kitchen. There are two restaurants in Chidlom and I recommend the other one too called The Terrace, we didn't get to go there this time because our stay was too short (sobs!). It's a Thai restaurant mixed with a bit of Western into it. This is what we ordered: Pad See Ew, Roast Pork (my fav!), Chicken Wings and Pasta. The service was quite fast, just a reminder that not all Thai people can speak English!

From Central Chidlom, there's a bridge that connects to Central Embassy. A mall that is filled with high-end brands. While I didn't get anything from there, it was nice to window shop and see all the different high-end brands from around the world. As for the YSL pictures, we all accompanied my mom who happily purchased something. The interior there is amazing. I can't get enough of it!

I definitely recommend this place, even if you're not planning on purchasing anything. The design there is like nothing I've ever seen before. Reminds me of a futuristic dystopian world, really. I especially love how everything there is white and oh so clean!

We then headed to Em Quartier, a brand new high-end mall. Again, we window shopped a bit and I got myself a Pain Au Chocolat from Fauchon and oh my goodness, it was so good! I also bought Madeleine, but it didn't taste as good as the croissant!

Fin. Well, not really. I was planning to put a whole day of our day in Bangkok, but there was just too much pictures and I didn't want to make this too long. So, the next time you'll be seeing me, I'll be in England (well not really).

Before I go, I just wanted to let you know that if you're planning to go to various different places in Bangkok in one day, I suggest you rent out a driver instead of riding a taxi/BTS. That way it's less complicated and won't give you too much hassle.

Much love, Ashley xx
