6 of my Favorite Photographs

I love photographs. Just the thought that a camera, something that you carry around, can store memories that'll last forever, blows my mind. Looking through my photo albums in my laptop, I just had to share six of my favorite moments that I encountered last year. Three months late, I know, but better late than never, right?! It's alright to feel nostalgic every now and then.

All of these pictures are of the photographs that I took while I was away from home. So get ready and be all wanderlust-y reading this! Cause I sure am. Wished that I could go online and book a ticket to somewhere suave, but that ain't happening in the near future. But, I am going to Bangkok in a couple of days, so I'm looking forward to that.

Henry VIII's Humble Abode aka Hampton Court Palace [25/05/15]

Not gonna lie, when I was in the Palace, I knew of Henry VIII, but I didn't know the full story of his life. It was after my trip to Europe that I began to invest myself in his life and... um, wives and mistresses. Pretty messed up, but I find it intriguing. I learned that this wasn't the place that he lived on a day to day basis, but whilst he was King of England, this Palace was owned by him. The Palace was instead frequented by Cardinal Wolsey, a favorite of Henry when he was in court. Wolsey's life didn't last for so long though, then again, I think anyone's life is in danger when you're a part of Henry's life (HA!).

I really loved this photograph from my trip to the Palace, because I remember myself feeling calm and serene in that moment. Everything was all right in the world and I do have to admit that I was imagining myself strolling around the palace back in the 1500's and maybe bumping into Henry or one of his wives? He he he.

Hanging by the Tower Bridge (Not London Bridge, Peeps!) [21/05/15]

London is my favorite city in the world. If you asked me two or three years ago I would tell you that Los Angeles was my favorite city, just because I was born there. But things change and people change, and I can say that London is my favorite city. With its gruesome history and lovely architectures, I just loved the vibe of the city and most of all, how I felt when I was there; happiness. I think I've gotten sick of the California sun and moved on to cloudy England. You know that depressed/sorrowful feeling you get after a trip abroad? I couldn't move on from my London trip for over five months straight. Pretty crazy!

Such a tourist that I am, we chilled by the River Thames after an hour inside the Tower of London. The view of the Bridge from the exit of the Tower is beyond beautiful. I was lucky enough that the sun was out whilst I was there, so that's a plus! The next day, I was on a river cruise and with the gloomy sky, the bridge was still beautiful, albeit not as beautiful as it is with the sun shining on it.

Driving Through Tower Bridge [21/05/15]

Tower Bridge and a plane passing through! Whoops!
I was pretty pleased that I managed to get a great photograph of the bridge when we passed through it on a red bus. Pretty clichéd, but I'm all about the cliché-ness when I was in London. To be able to see the intricate details of the bridge up close was pretty cool and phenomenal. I just kept on wondering how cool it was that people in the past were able to create such a beautiful thing that would become one of the symbols that represents the city.

I also got to ride up to the top of the bridge and whilst it was pretty scary with the glass floors and all, I was glad that I went up to the top because I was able to learn the history of who and when the bridge was created.

Sunny Paree [27/05/15]

Paris is by far, the most photogenic city I've ever been to. And I think everyone else knows that. Again, the perks of being a tourist is riding up a hop off hop on bus, and we were stuck in traffic whilst passing through the Pont Alexander III bridge. Instead of sitting down and daydreaming about my own Etiénne (coughs), I looked to the right and saw the Iron Lady peeping through. So I snapped it, and in the moment I didn't realize how great the picture was. I mean, the view of the Eiffel Tower and one of the most beautiful bridge in Paris and the Seine, is pretty cool, if I do so say myself.

Visiting the Secret Annex [02/06/15]

It's been a life long dream of mine to visit the Anne Frank House. Ever since reading her diary and connecting to her in someway, I knew that visiting the secret annex was on my list of places that I need to go to before I die. Although the wait in the pouring wind rain took quite a while. it was worth it. Because as soon as I stepped inside, a deep sadness engulfed me in ways that I can't describe.

To be able to stand in a room, where Anne Frank used to live in 70 years ago is something that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Her diary has in a way, saved me and looked at the world differently in a good way. She taught me that life is short, so don't waste your time on things that burden you. And also, to go out of the house once in a while and breathe in the fresh air. She wasn't able to do any of those things, and that just broke my heart because she was just a teenager living in a warzone. In conclusion, she is my number one inspiration in life and I always say this, but if she survived just a couple of months longer, she would've been liberated. Brings me a whole deep of sadness that can't be amended.

Gorgeous View of the Singapore Flyer [29/12/15]

During Christmas break, I was in Singapore for a couple of days and I managed to ride up the Singapore Flyer. The view from the top was magnificent. Despite getting a gorgeous view of central Singapore, I really wanted to capture the Singapore Flyer in its glory. I've seen pictures of it roaming around Instagram, and the problem was I didn't know the exact spot to capture a great photograph of the flyer.

The next day, after exiting Gardens by the Bay, I was feeling quite cold, so I decided to take a walk by the Singapore River and found the exact spot to get this great shot! I was so happy. A good thing that it wasn't raining that day, would've been a bummer if it did rain because it was raining half the time I was there.

Well that's it, all my six favorite photographs! I cut it down to six because I have too many great photographs and moments that I took last year, and that would've lasted years and years to write. I like to keep memories, and I've not kept a physical copy of photographs for years now. And I've been thinking of doing it on a photobook that I recently found on Social Print Studio. A very great way to store your memories! And maybe show it to your future kids and grandchildren, ey? Hahaha.

I really hope you enjoyed traveling down memory with me and get all wanderlust-y afterwards! Btw, just a heads up that there might not be a post coming up for the next week, but I will try and do it before I leave for Bangkok!

What are your favorite moments from 2015?

Much love, Ashley xx
