Best of: July '16

Let's be frank here; WHERE HAVE THE TIME GONE?! I'm freaking out as I write this, because bloody hell, how is it the last day of July already? I'm still indenial about the fact that it has been a month since I left London because I feel as if I was just there yesterday! And to be honest with you, this month wasn't as 'sunshine and rainbows' as it was last month. It was in two words: pretty crappy.

I'm in a stage of life where I'm confused. About everything. Mainly about the future. I'm seeing all my past schoolmates go to these top notched school and figuring out their shit before they're twenty years old and all I can do is just sit here, and sit like a fool not knowing what to do with my life. I feel lost. I really wished I had the normal mindset a 17-year old usually has. Sadly, I don't.

Getting asked a question over and over again on a topic that you yourself don't know the answer to, gets pretty old. I'm so tired of feeling apprehensive and anxious about the future. So, so tired. My decision of not wanting to go to college may not live up to my relatives, friends and even parents expectations, but hey, at the end of the day, it's my life isn't it?

Sappiness and moaning aside, all I can say about this post is that I ate quite a lot this month and watched only one TV show! Quite a lot of movies though, hehe. Which is pretty rare for me, ha. Without further ado, let's get on with the favorites, shall we?!

TV Shows:

Elementary: A modern version of Sherlock in NYC, and a female Watson. What more could you ask for?! Now I must say that this show can never beat BBC's Sherlock, but I do quite enjoy it! The humor is fantastic and I was quite shocked too that the main character who plays Sherlock, was Angelina Jolie's ex-husband! Mind blown.

Movies:

Zootopia: Slapping myself on the face because, why did it take so long for me to watch this?! I have a huuuge crush on Nick Wilde (don't judge me, he's a sly fox after all). I couldn't stop laughing the whole way through and teared up a bit too! And gosh, one scene in the movie had got me in tears because it was that funny! I watched this movie three times in a span of four days. So that goes to show how much I loved this movie!

Finding Dory: Holy macaroni, I was so excited when I finally got the chance to watch the continuation of my favorite childhood movie! Now I gotta admit, it wasn't as good as Finding Nemo but it was a good watch all in all. Prepare some tissues, you're gonna need it!

Jason Bourne: A very intense movie that got me in chills! The acting was great, and so was Alicia Vikander. The number one reason why I watched this was because of Alicia and I've gotta say, she did a great job in this movie! Oh and I'm so glad that Matt Damon's back as Bourne.

Songs:

Ruin by Shawn Mendes: Honestly not a big fan of his voice, but this song just hit me right in the heart. Been playing it on replay for the past few weeks or so and am not bored of it yet! Doesn't hurt that he's quite a handsome lad too (and I'm the same age as him, hehe!).

Don't Forget About Me by Cloves: Was on Spotify when this came on and the song sounded so familiar to me and realized in the end that it was from Me Before You! Quite a sad dong, but I think everyone gets to listen to sad songs every once in a while, right? Especially when life bulldozes you with tons of shit in one go.

Moments:

The Last Supper: She was going off to the other side of the world for school in three days prior to our last supper together. I wasn't feeling as emotional as I thought I would, probably because I know that one way or another we'll meet quite often in the future. We'll not meet every week that's for sure, but, sometimes distancing yourself from the norms of people that you usually spend time with can be good for ourselves, right?

Catching Up: After years and years of not meeting each other, it felt so good to have finally met up with a friend that you haven't seen in ages! Lots of catching up to do and we spent hours and hours in this cafe called Kempi Deli chatting and drinking tea and coffee.

Sending Off a Friend: In haste, my best friend told us that she might be leaving for college a month before class started. That came as a shock for me because I felt as if I didn't spend that much time with her this year. So her friends and I decided to go to the airport and send her off to her midnight flight. It was quite emotional, but deep down I knew that she'd come back soon!

She came back (!): I was right, she did come back a week before her class started. Quite a short time, but at least I got more time to spend time with my best friend of 11 years (mindblowing). Sadly, I had to say goodbye to her yesterday. I didn't cry at all when we hugged and went our separate ways, but it hit me as soon as I arrived home, knowing that it'd be quite a while til' I see her next. And despite us promising to stay in touch in the future, change is on the horizon and I am not ready for any of it to happen so soon.

Food:

Lychee Latte at Beezy Cafe: I ordered Lychee tea and this came out. Not opposed to it at all as the latte art is too darn cute! The taste was pretty good too. Not usually a big fan of coffee, but the coffee in this one was subtle. So I was fine with it!

Crêpes at Kitchenette: I did not plan on ordering crêpes at all because I was so full! But my friend convinced me to order one because they had a promotion of buy 1 get 1. So I found myself eating crepes that was free and um well, I didn't demolish it at all as I was so full. Too bad, ey. It tasted good though! Nothing better than a Nutelle crêpe.

Waffle with Maple Syrup & Earl Grey Ice Cream at Woodpecker Coffee: Holy moly. I am in love with this waffle, probably the best one I've eaten in my life! It's not too sweet despite the maple syrup and it has the right proportion for me. Honestly, Woodpecker has got to be my favorite café at the moment. The vibe there is so chilled and it doesn't hurt that it's just 3 minutes away from my house!

Despite all the tears and the heartaches I had to go through on this sunny July, I managed to love some bits and pieces this month. And I really hope that something good comes along the way, cause gosh, I really need one good thing to happen right now.

I hope you have all have a lovely Sunday! Sorry for the sappy post. Pretty ironic that I wrote something so serious in a favorites post, but I just gotta let that out.

Much love, Ashley xx
