I've Got Broad(s) in Atlanta

That is the song that will be replaying on my mind as I write this post. An atrocious song (at least in my opinion it is), but it's just so catchy as the song only revolves in one word (lolz). I love how accurate the song is to this post! Change Atlanta to Los Angeles and you'll find yourself right at home.

Anyways, when I was in LA I finally got to visit the ever so famous museum, The Broad. Still particular new (opened late last year), so the crowd was pretty big. A big warning to you all, if you're planning to go and visit this museum, make a reservation beforehand. I didn't do that as the reservation slot for the next few months are full (that's my sister said anyway), so we had to wait in the cold for an hour and a half. It was worth the wait though as the museum is so photogenic!

The art displayed in this museum are all modern art, which to be honest with you I'm not particularly fond of, but hey, I gotta broaden my horizon somehow! Some I absolutely loved, and some I didn't get at all. Pretty bummed that I didn't get to see the Infinity Room because I found out that if you do wanna get into that glorious, glorious room, you have to make a special reservation beforehand. But that's fine as we got to scroll through the main hall for half an hour for free!

When I saw this artwork I saw Joe on it and immediately thought of Joe Sugg, because he's the only Joe I know in my life. Lolz.

Femme d'Alger / Artist: Roy Lichtenstein / Date: 1963
Untitled / Artist: Robert Rauschenberg / Date: 1963
Eat, Sleep and Drink / Artist: Richard Prince / Date: 1989
Under the Table / Artist: Robert Therrien / Date: 1994

I'm a short gal, so as I stood upon this gigantic artwork, I resemble a dwarf. Always a plus for us petite gals, ey? (Not).

I...I'm Sorry! / Artist: Roy Lichtenstein / Date: 1965-66

I was so excited to see this as the night before, I was binge watching Baby Daddy and found myself scrolling through Chelsea Kane's Instagram. She took a picture next to this artwork because they're basically twins. Both with blonde bobs!

Michael Jackson and Bubbles / Artist: Jeff Koons / Date: 1988

This is by far, the coolest piece I saw whilst I was in The Broad. Basically I was obsessed with Michael Jackson when he passed away (so weird, I know), but I listened to his music 24/7 for the next couple of months. The depiction of Michael and his monkey is fantastic. The artist did a great job!

Double America 2 / Artist: Glenn Ligon / Date: 2014
Tulips / Artist: Jeff Koons / Date: 1995-2004
The Walk Home / Artist: Julian Schnabel / Date: 1985
Campbell's Soup Can / Artist: Andy Warhol / Date: 1962
Flag / Artist: Jasper Johns / Date: 1967

Balloon Dog / Artist: Jeff Koons / Date: 1994-2000

That's the end of the post for today! I would really recommend going to The Broad if you ever find yourself in LA, because it's a hit spot at the moment. Again, the whole place is very Instagram-able. Plus, the museum right next to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. I found myself walking across and staring at the gorgeous building because I remembered vividly that it was featured in Get Smart ages ago, and ya know, it was my favorite movie when I was 10 years old!

I hope you enjoyed this post and is not bored of the consistent posts of museums! Really sorry if you find it boring, but I personally find them very refreshing. :)

Address:
221 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Much love, Ashley xx

  5. Love your pics at the Broad! It was quite packed when I went so that took away from the experience a bit; plus it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Hopefully will visit again sometime when the fervor has died down a bit!
