Candles for Autumn
Autumn is here! Well not really. LA is currently going through a friggin' heatwave at the moment, so um, yeah. Technically, autumn doesn't really come around here until late-October/early-November. WHICH SUCKS. Because I am in need of cold crisp mornings and breezy nights! Rant aside, whilst we're not really in Autumn yet, I thought I'd be Autumnal and add some candles into my house for cosy nights in and let's hope, cooler nights.
One thing I need to smell through the night is something that calms me down. Nights usually tend to make me think sporadically, and not in a good way either. It's usually the time where I overthink stuff that has happened to me in the day or previous day, and for what the future holds. So to try and diminish those thoughts, I light up one of these candles that I got from TJ Maxx (one candle was only $2.99, what a bargain! P.s, if you buy if off of their website, it retails for $12.99) and *surprise surprise* I'm actually calm enough and sleep well at night. These don't smell Autumnal or even look like one, but I love them all the same!
Calming Waves: As I write this, this exact candle is lit up right next to me. Now I'm quite terrible at describing scents, so I'll let the website description do the work! Alas, it's a very calming (as the name states, duh) scent that leads me to get quite sleepy earlier than usual, and I manage to sleep well at night as well! Very great advantages.
Fragrance Profile: "Dazzling citrus orange, effervescent mandarin and sugared clementine splashed over warm undertones of fresh-cut white cedar and musk."
Lilac Blossom: So remember when I said I hated floral scents? Specifically in candles and perfumes? Well, I think I overcame that. Now, I'm all about the floral scents. I managed to finish my Jane Austen candle that I showed to you guys in this post, in a matter of two weeks! Which is crazy fast. So whilst I'm awaiting my second glass of that, I'll be replacing it with this candle which smells absolutely divine! Not only does it smell good, but it also looks good in my bedside table. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's into the pink packaging?!
Fragrance Profile: "Appealing scent of spring blooming lilac petals with hints of purple pansy, precious woods and sheer vanilla musk."
Sea Blossom: Now I'm gonna admit, the scent of this one is quite similar to Calming Waves, but a much more calming one, if that's possible. I've not lit this up as often as I do with the other two, but the times that I do light it up, I really love it! Reminds me of a stroll through the beach.
Fragrance Profile: "Blooming ocean flowers lifted with white ozone over sensual amber nuances and smooth weathered driftwood."
When I have an obsession for something, I tend to go overboard at certain times. Okay, maybe all the time, haha! So yeah, I've been into candles for the past few weeks and it all comes down to the descending season of autumn around the corner, and the fact that I can light up a lighter on my own! I was scared to the bone when it comes to lighting up a lighter a few weeks ago, but I managed to go through it. Pathetic ol' me!
Now whilst my review on these three candles are mostly pros, the one thing I don't like about them is that you have to cut the wick quite often because it grows really fast whilst you're burning it! The flame can also get quite big at certain times, so I always have to make sure I have an eye on them at all times.
What's your favorite candle scent for Autumn?
Much love, Ashley
