All Things Jane Austen

Four years ago, I became infatuated with European art and all things historic. Earlier this year, I found a new author to love, by the name of Jane Austen. I've read two of her books now, going onto the third at the moment but have been putting it off lately (I have no idea why). Long story short, last Saturday my mom and I found ourselves in The Huntington Library located in San Marino. Quite close to where we live, so we made an impromptu trip there despite the heat.

Now usually, souvenir shops don't do it for me as they're not my cup of tea. I thought differently as we stepped into the souvenir shop of the Huntington Library. It was jam packed with all knick knacks of different stuff. From saucers, mugs, toys and my favorite, a section of your favorite authors. One whole shelf was dedicated to Jane Austen, and I'm not gonna lie, I thought of buying every single thing! Then again, why would I need a book filled with etiquettes you need to ace in the Regency era?

So instead of ravaging on stuff that I don't need, I managed to come out of the store with only three things that I could put to good use!

First up is this adhesive page flags with four of the main characters in Pride & Prejudice as the star of the show! They're all so cute, but I've gotta say, my favorite one has got to be Mr. Darcy. The frown depicted his character so well! I'm just so happy to have came across something relating to one of my favorite book and movie of all time. Tempted to read it again!

It's no surprise that Jane was good with words. She is a great author after all! So it's no surprise that I had to buy this book filled with quotes from her books and also some of the letters that she sent out to her sister and other relatives. I was about to buy a smaller book filled with just quotes, but decided against it as this book works as a notebook too. Aside from that, there are doodles relating to Jane inside of it which I love!

Back in Jakarta, I saw a candle similar to this with Jane's quote on it too, but the scent didn't get to me, so I didn't buy it in the end. When I came across this one by Paddywax, I knew I had to bring it home with me immediately. Doesn't hurt that the scent is good too! As you can see from the box, the scent of it is floral. Not usually a big fan of floral scents as they remind of death, but this one does it for me. My favorite thing about it though is the quote on the label. Best describes me as I'm a homegirl through and through.

I am a happy gal to have came across stuff relating to one of my favorite authors. The candle brand, Paddywax, also does candles named out of other well known authors as well, such as; Edgar Allen Poe, Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain. Pretty great for literature lovers out there!

Do you like Jane Austen's books? If so, which one's your favorite?

Much love, Ashley xx

  7. Omg yes to Jane Austen! I have been to Huntington Library a few times as well and was always enamored with the Jane Austen section of their gift store. I seriously want that candle! My favorite has to be, hands down, Pride and Prejudice. Such a classic.
