The Getty // Part I

Hello, hello! Currently wrapped up in my hoodie and blanket whilst writing this because LA has been super duper cold these past few days. Still is, and while I quite love it because it's been a while since I've been in cold weather, I've finally been hit by the flu, which is hitting me in the gut. Alas, this post is allll about my visit to The Getty Center last Thursday! Going to split it into two posts as I took too many pictures whilst I was there (oops!). I hope you don't mind that. This is going to be a photo diary post, so more pictures, less rambles from moi. :P

But before going on with the pictures, let me tell you a little bit about the museum!

First of all, it's free admission, so you should definitely visit The Getty if you ever find yourself in LA. The paintings, sculptures and other things artsy, is all so beautiful and straight out of Heaven (well, not really). I felt like I was in Europe for a second there! I will definitely come back in the future, fo sho'. They also have another site called The Getty Villa located in Pacific Palisades that I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to visit before I leave! Plus, the view from the museum ain't too bad!

Madonna & Child with a Male Saint, Catherine of Alexandria and a Donor / Artist: Michelangelo di Pietro Membrini (Italian) / Date: around 1500
Portrait of a Woman with a Book of Music / Artist: Bacchiaccha (Italian 1494-1557) / Date: around 1540-1545
A Wooded Landscape with Travelers on a path through a Hamlet / Artist: Meindert Hobbema (1638-1709), Abraham Storck (1644-1708) / Date; around 1665
Portrait of a Young Man in a Military Costume / Artist: Bartholomeus van der Helst (Dutch, 1613-1670) / Date: 1650
I'm not even joking, but I have a teeny tiny crush on this dude that lived four centuries ago. Crazy! Doesn't he remind you a little bit of Heath Ledger though? And you know what a babe Heath was. ❤︎

Portrait of Louis XIV / Artist: after Hyacinthe Rigraud (1659-1743) / Date: after 1701
Funnily enough, I've seen this painting in France before. I'm pretty sure it was in Versailles. When I saw this, I was sure that this was just a replica of the original painting, but now I'm not so sure!
Bacchante with an Ape / Artist: Hendrick ter Brugghen (Dutch, 1588-1629) / Date: 1627
Medallion of Louis XIV
Portrait of a Young Man / Artist: Unknown maker (15th century) / Date: 2nd half of 15th century
Charles de Saint-Albin, Archbishop of Cambrai / Artist: Hyacinthe Rigaud (French 1659-1743) / Date: 1723

I can definitely pictures myself having a cuppa or reading a book in one of these rooms. Just look at how gorgeous they are!

Anyways, that's the end of Part I of The Getty from moi. Stay tuned for Part II in the next couple of days! x
