Nature Filled Day

Day 2 of Santa Barbara and we went out of our hotel room with an overcast sky looming around our head and an even colder weather. Wrapped myself up in a sweater for the whole morning, didn't mind that at all as I love layering!

Our first stop of the day (after brunch of course) was the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. I've been to a few National History Museums now and wasn't too keen on going in and seeing skeletons once again, so we just roamed out and about the museum and got to see some pretty darn cool sights along the way. Anyways, there was a creek running through the museum, sadly since the weather has been so dry in California, there were no water milling down it. Would've been an ace picture!

As I said before, the sun wasn't out when we got out of our hotel and it stayed that way until noon or so. Either way, I was so fascinated by the view of the mountain from the church and couldn't help but capture maybe dozens of shots of it. I went there quite early so not many people were milling around, and it was just great to chill by the historic church and soak in the Santa Barbara weather while we could. I've always been a fan of old architecture and this one did not disappoint. Many people were having a picnic by the side of the church as well!

This was on top of my itinerary list and I was so excited to be able to see it in the flesh. At first I didn't know that we had to hike around the garden as I thought the space was well, smaller. So when the lady in the ticket stall told us the directions of each hike we had to go through, I was quite scared that I wasn't gonna survive it. Thankfully, I did and we got to really be one with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of the city even if it was only for an hour or so. Walking around, hiking through rocks and hills, it was a new experience for me but one that I will never forget. The weather was pretty too good us too, it was slightly chilly but a lot more warmer than it was in the morning. We got lost an hour into our hike and was pretty freaked out cause my phone didn't have signal and no one was around to help us! Thankfully we got back to the entrance safely and I was knackered to the bone by the time our hike ended. Alas, I would highly recommend going here if you're ever in SB!

When going to a new city, discovering their shopping experience is a must no matter where you are! Located right at Downtown Santa Barbara, I couldn't help  My sister and I got ice cream from McConnell's, we had to okay, since it originates from Santa Barbara. While devouring our ice cream, we strolled through Paseo Nuevo filled to the brim with shops such as Pacsun and Cotton On to name a few. Definitely a great way to end the day!

After a jam packed day full of activities, we spent the evening at out hotel and I lounged around in the patio playing my laptop as I watch the sunset over the balcony. I didn't get to capture it as I was too immersed with it, but eh, it was glorious alright! All in all, a very great second day in Santa Barbara. Not gonna lie, I was feeling rather sad that I had to leave for LA the next day. It was a short trip, but a memorable one at that.

  1. The botanic gardens look lovely, I love vast areas of nature! That butterfly looks huge, or is it just the way you took the photo haha? Very pretty though! I love your outfit, your bag matched the church/mission columns. x
