Tea Et Al

A day before my best friend left Indonesia to go to school abroad, we all went to a very lovely teashop to have afternoon tea. Located in Pacific Place, the teashop is located right inside Galeries Lafayette. The shop is called Tea Et Al, which sounds downright fancy! Great thing about this place is, not only are the waiters super duper friendly, but we could also refill our teas without paying an extra pot for it!

Thankfully the place wasn't so crowded, despite us going there right at the peak hour of afternoon tea. Despite the decor being modern, I felt as if I was a French lady sipping a hot cuppa tea with friends on a slightly gloomy day. The vibe of the whole place was so relaxing and calming, so my friends and I may have stayed there for three hours straight (whoops!).

The coolest thing about this place was the tea testers. Obviously, with the menu filled with hundreds of different types of tea, you may get overwhelmed and confused on what to order. So instead of making a rookie mistake of ordering the wrong tea (happened to me once, bleh!), you could just inhale the scent first and see if it's up on your street or not. I always love places that does this! Nothing better than an afternoon tea filled with inhaling the scents of tea.

I got myself a cup of L'amour. Sound downright French right?! The tea tasted so heavenly on my tongue. It was really calming and I loved that it wasn't too excessively sweet. A very weird combo, but I got a side of sweet potato fries and oh my gosh, it was demolished in less than five minutes! So, so good. <3

I didn't want the night to end on that particular Friday evening. It ending means that I would have to say goodbye to my best friend. There were no tears leaking out of my eyes as I gave her a hug goodbye and sped off home to a 2-hour traffic (UGH!). But, I really felt the sadness creeping through inside of me when I arrived home.

So moral of this post; cherish time with your loved ones. Always. Even if you're quarreling or are in the midst of something complicated, be thankful that they're by your side!

Much love, Ashley

  1. Beautiful post and pictures - this looks like such a nice place! We get way more coffee shops than tea houses here in Ireland which is a bit odd when we love our tea so much. Hopefully more places will open!

    1. Thanks, Emma! Oh, how odd is that?! I would get it if you lived in America, but Irish people love their tea too right?! I do hope you get more teashops in Ireland. :) x

  3. Whenever I go somewhere with so many tea options, I try to stick the ones I know so I won't pick something weird :) Totally agree with the moral of your story, we should cherish the time we have with the loved ones, we don't know when we will see them the next time!
