Winter Blues

I feel like I haven't talked to you guys in ages! I usually post every two or three days, so that's probably why it felt like I haven't been here in so long.

Aside from some family things that I had to go through last week, I fell ill on Thursday and was feeling like myself again on Monday. Long story short, the weekend was brought with so much chaos with me heading to the hospital and having to go the Emergency room to make me less weak. It wasn't fun, but at least I'm better now!

I hope you all had a lovely start to the week. I sure did. With a visit from my lovely cousin who is currently sleeping over for a couple of days, we've had so much laughter and a tad bit of disappointment when our baking session came to a halt (sigh).

Okay, gonna stop rambling now! I've been saying this a ton now, but I've always loved the wintertime. I love the cold, no doubt about that. The last time I spent Christmas in another country that had cold weather was two years ago (such a long time!), so I've been feeling the blues and craving for some cold weather to seep through my blood and fill me with some Christmas spirit.

My most memorable Christmas trip in my whole entire life would be my first trip to London (and Paris, but that'll be up sometime in the future!). It was, amazing. Even though it has been three years since that trip I still remember everything about it. Back then, I wasn't really into British stuff or their history, so I was quite an amateur, but now that I've grown up, I can definitely say that I love everything about London. I would love to visit other cities in the UK as well!

As I said before, it has been three years since this trip but everything about it is still vivid on my mind. The weather was super duper cold, but I cherished it because the weather here in Jakarta is just horrible. (Trust me, when you live in a tropical city your whole life, the hot weather gets old!).

I was quite shocked that the sun set so early, making my jetlag a little bit more horrendous than usual. Yes, the coldness and greyness of London made me sleepy throughout the day, but thankfully most of the days we were there, we were blessed with some sunshine!

Throwback to my chubby cheeks and long hair!

Obviously we went to all the touristy stuff, but with my first time being there, the most grand thing I saw was Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. And I must say, comparing the London trip I went on this summer, London looks so much better in grey! (He he he)

One of my other highlights of the trip was the British Museums. Back then, I wasn't so much as a museum fiend, but appreciating all the artworks just the same!

Let me share to you another hilarious story that happened during this trip (well it was hilarious for me anyways). My family and I visited the Kensington Palace and it was raining dogs and cats the whole day. We arrived there mid-afternoon, and since the taxi driver couldn't drop us off at the main entrance (because the palace was located in the middle of a big yard), we all had to walk. I still remember it so clearly! The wind was lashing against our faces, the rain was making my coat soaking wet, so basically the whole experience was quite torturous at the time, but now that I remember it, I would categorize it as a memorable funny experience that we had in London!

And now to conclude the post, a gorgeous picture of the British Museum!

We're ten days away from Christmas and although I'm not spending it at a cold/festive country, the most important thing about it is the amount of time we spend with our loved ones.

Much love, Ashley xx

  5. I live in the UK but have only visited London once properly! Last year around early September time so it wasn't too hot or too cold, but it's a goal of mine to go back maybe next year at Christmas time! I know the lights, decorations & atmosphere in London at Christmas are just amazing! I love London, so much history and prettiness :-) These are some really lovely pictures and I enjoyed this post!
